...Before midnight--just enough time to get in today's post.
We just returned from an impromptu trip downtown as a family. We packed up and headed to Navy Pier for a long-awaited ferris wheel ride and fireworks. Had fun. On the way back to the car via the Chicago Avenue bus (it's 10:30pm by this point) Tyce who is laying in my lap looks up at me and says, "Dad, are you tired yet?"
"Nope."
"Well I'm dead." And he slumped in a heap.
I won't bore you with the details, but lets just say getting from the Pier to the bus to the car was not a smooth transaction. Kids were in bed by about 11:15p. 3.25 hours past bedtime. Sometimes you have to keep the kids up late and do something fun and out of the ordinary. We'd do it again despite the late night.
Those are the things the kids will remember. My dad used to like to take us on long, meandering drives through the Oklahoma backroads and he'd often say, "We're lost, we're lost, we'll never find our way home!" We knew then we were out of routine and on an adventure. Great stuff. Keep sharing your "dad" stories.

Keep going strong Pastor Dad. You're a fine example to young Dad's at New Life!
We need more Men like you!
