Unable to provide personal anecdotal testimony to today's question, I can however, attest to many smart people in my life who have found their way to deep faith in Jesus. But it has been my experience that highly-educated people tend to require unique help in finding their way to Jesus. In my view, a portion of their faith-skeptical outlook on life can be attributed to the indoctrinating approach of modern education in anti-God thinking and the "dunce cap" stigma associated with believing in Jesus. ("Oh, you're one of those arcane fools?")
But another big contributing factor is a lack of widely advertised, intelligent, faith resources that help a highly educated person grasp and own solid reasons to believe. But fear not you smarties and you who have smartie friends--there is hope for the smartie!
Here are a couple book resources that can prepare the way for faith:
- Finding God at Harvard, Kelly Monroe Kullberg
- Finding God Beyond Harvard, Kelly Monroe Kullberg
- Jesus Among Other Gods, Ravi Zacharias
- Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense, N.T. Wright
I have one of those books by Kelly (forgot which one!) and it is fantastic. Ravi is amazing. One of the most brilliant minds ever created by God.
One of my favorite places these days is Stand to Reason (www.str.org). Great resources there.

Christians frequently reinforce the stereotype that belief in God is old fashioned, ignorant and/or stupid. When we say things along the lines of 'Just believe!' or 'It just takes faith!' we lead people to think that Christianity is just a blind leap into the dark - something we believe against all reason and against all facts. We need to be able to articulate the reasons why we believe as we do. We need to show that the Christian faith is based upon history and facts. (STR is fantastic for that. Probe Ministries as well - www.probe.org.)
